The burial of high-voltage cables has become a preferred option for safety and environmental protection reasons.

The passing of high-voltage through these buried cables can often lead to the generation of high temperatures.  If the buried cables are in soils which have a low thermal conductivity, the cables can overheat and failures can occur.

Rock Solid Group has undertaken laboratory soil thermal resistivity testing, the results of which are used in the installation of underground high voltage electric cables.

Discreet soil samples are collected enroute and specially prepared for laboratory soil thermo-resistivity testing. The testing procedure followed is in accordance with IEEE Standard 442-1981 "IEEE Guide for Soil Thermal Resistivity Measurements".
